Shipping Made Easy

Here’s a little peek into my process for packing and shipping my orders after making a sale. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me!

BUYING YOUR LABELS
Through my experience here at Kidizen, I have learned shipping works best and smoothest when you use the Kidizen shipping options provided. I have taken my packages to the post office to ship in the past, but let’s be honest — no one likes dealing with the post office lines! It’s so easy when you have purchased a prepaid label from Kidizen. Then you can either drop it off inside on the post office counter or at any blue box on the street.

PACKAGING (OUTSIDE)
So let’s talk about packaging your orders. I have found that ordering poly mailers from Amazon is the cheapest way to go. You can purchase plain gray or even cute designs — most prices are 100 for $10-12. They come in different sizes, but I have found 10×13 are the best for most orders. I also buy shipping label holders, too (I have found it’s better than wasting your shipping tape). You get 100 clear adhesive holders for $10. If you are interested in a scale for accurate shipping prices, I suggest an Ozeri kitchen scale. I ordered mine about four years ago for $10 and I have been very pleased with it.

PACKAGING (INSIDE)
You always want to make sure you have something protecting your orders, so I start with white tissue paper. I also use clear bags for small orders, though Ziploc bags also work well (I’ve even known sellers who use both or double up on baggies or poly mailers just to be safe). Above all, do not put your orders in paper mailers — they’re not durable and have been known to rip open during the shipping process. Finally, if you want to add a little color to your packages, try adding washi tape! It’s fast and easy.

SPECIAL SHIPPING TIP
When you have a package that weighs more than 16 oz and first class is no longer an option, you’ll need to ship Priority in a flat rate padded envelope, which runs about $6.10. You can go to the post office website to order them and they’ll be shipped to your home (they don’t carry them at the post office, in my experience). Always remember, “if it fits, it ships”! I have stuffed that bag so full it’s ridiculous! Just wrap shipping tape on it for stability and it’s good to go!

I hope I have given you a few tips and tools to be a great seller here on Kidizen.

Happy Selling!!
