Pricing Your Items To Sell

You start your listing, add pictures, put in a great description, and then you get to the pricing box. You freeze. What DO you price it for? You don’t want to go too low, but you also want someone to buy it. What is the magical number?

A lot of variables can impact the price of your items — the brand, current style trends, whether they’re hard to find or sold out, their condition — the list goes on and on! But in the end, we want someone to buy it, right? So my number one rule of thumb when I price something, is to begin by asking myself: “how much would I pay for this?” This question, along with my fees and shipping costs, drives a lot of my pricing.

I would also recommend looking up similar items in the Kidizen app to see how it is being listed by other shops. Some of these items will most likely be priced similarly, though I would pay attention to whether they have just been listed or have been on sale for awhile without being sold. Even a dollar or two can make a difference with prices!

MY PRICING CHECKLIST:

1.   Look up similar items or brands in the Kidizen app and keep in mind how they compare to yours.

2.   Think about the condition of your item; does it have a lot of wash wear or stains?

3.   Remember to factor in shipping costs (especially for heavy items like boots).

4.   Ask yourself if the number you’ve landed on is something you would pay for that item.

In the end, pricing your items is something that gets easier (and better) as you become more experienced. As with everything with selling I suppose! 🙂
